EmployBridge Search Group is currently recruiting for a Product Designer in Louisville, CO area. The Product Designer works with the product design group as part of a team devoted to bringing new, innovative products to market within the company’s growing portfolio dedicated to consumer products. Assigned projects require a comprehensive understanding and practice of product design through concept sketches and renderings, along with refining and fully realizing concepts utilizing CAD modeling and related tools. A demonstrated proficiency in industrial design fundamentals, product development, and collaboration skills are must-haves.
Primary duties and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to: conceptualizing designs based on product definition worksheets; creating and testing prototypes to validate initial design concepts; design of simple mechanisms; working with engineers to validate functionality and strength of materials; design for manufacturing; design revisions to tooled components; identification and resolution of design problems; verification of final product against design requirements; participation in continuous improvement initiatives of the design process.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the design team to fulfill the objectives of the product’s mission
- Develop products from design concept, to prototype, to the manufacturable article through sketching, CAD modeling, and 3D printing
- Support engineering to insure manufacturability and ease of production
- Interface with product management to ensure product functional requirements are met
- Assist in selecting materials, colors, and surface finishes
- Provide technical documentation to communicate design intent
- Maintain familiar brand identity through design aesthetics
- Other Duties as assigned
- Must be able to sit at a desk for long stretches working on a computer
- Travel up to 10%; both international and domestic
Qualifications:
- BS/MS Degree in Industrial Design, or Engineering with Product Design focus; may be offset by relevant experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Industrial Design, with extensive focus on 3D CAD modeling
- Qualified candidates will be required to submit a portfolio of their work upon request
- Passionate about the consumer product industry and outdoor product categories
- Experience working as a member of a fast-paced design team
- Comfortable participating in design critiques
- Intermediate experience with the design of injection-molded, machined, and stamped parts
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Shop & prototyping skills
- Familiarity with 3D Printing technologies
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.)
- Adobe Illustrator; basic understanding
- Adobe Photoshop; basic understanding
- SOLIDWORKS 2019 or later; advanced user-preferred (surfacing, multi-body modeling, complex assemblies)
