Maintenance Manager

Job Duties:
  • Manages maintenance of plant buildings and coordinates requirements for new designs, surveys and maintenance schedules for equipment and machinery
  • Supervises overall sanitation of the facility to include adequate grounds maintenance and waste disposal
  • Ensue the facility remains clean and in good repair
  • Maintains an approved chemical list for chemicals used in Maintenance and ensures toxic chemical are properly stored
  • Ensures standards set by the overseeing regulatory agencies including, but not limited to, FDA, OSHA, EPA and local air quality management agency are met for the equipment maintenance, pollution control standards, modification of equipment, establishing operating procedures and overseeing the maintenance of plant buildings
  • Actively participates in facility safety committee meetings regularly and in social compliance audits as necessary
  • May occasionally lead individual meetings or present safety topics, particularly in areas of expertise. Partners with other sites employees and managers to create/maintain a safe work environment
  • Procures all equipment parts and maintenance supplies with assistance of the Purchasing Department
  • Manages the contract services utilized by the facility such as yard maintenance, janitorial and other contracted preventative maintenance activities
  • Ensures that the responsibilities, authorities and accountability of all direct-reports are defined and understood
  • Drafts Preventative Maintenance SOP’s and associated documents and performs periodic reviews of both
  • Supports newly installed machines and equipment following industry standards to ensure regulatory compliance and fulfillment of contract speciation’s. This includes, when required, the execution of both a documented Installation Qualification (IQ) and Operations Qualification (OQ)
  • Coordinates preparation of bid sheets and contracts for construction projects with Director and/or VP of Operations; is responsible for coordination of permitting
  • Coordinates and/or provides training to all mechanics on the proper use of existing and/or new equipment
  • Coordinates and provides training to production personnel, where and when applicable, on the proper use of existing and/or new equipment
  • Attends equipment manufacturing shows to upgrade equipment as necessary
  • Confers with vendors, staff, and management personnel regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities and project status
  • Drafts and designs layout of equipment, materials and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency, using drafting tools and computer
  • Communicates with management and user personnel to develop production and design standards of equipment and facilities
  • Records or oversees recording of information of engineering drawings and documentation of equipment related production problems, to ensure that all documents are current
  • Collaborates with Operations to recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material and utilities
  • Computes hiring, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions for direct reports
  • Oversees and coordinates annual fire drills and may be on-call for security of the buildings
  • Other related duties as required
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s of Science in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • 5+ years related experience preferably in a production/manufacturing operations environment with an electro/mechanical emphasis and 3+ years in supervisory experience, preferably as a maintenance or plant manager
  • Prior experience working with production in an FDA cGMP manufacturing environment is strongly preferred
  • Strong supervisory skills and management of non-exempt maintenance and housekeeping employees
  • Able to multi-task and problem solve; very organized and strong relationship manager in addition to being a self-starter and work in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to read, analyze and interpret common business or safety documents and follow safety protocols
  • Able to analyze complex information and perform operations-related research
  • Able to build relationship with various departments throughout the facility
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite of products
